AFRICAN GOLF CLUBS SOCIETY (AGCS) IS A CONFEDERATION AIMING TO ADDRESS BROADER AND MACRO AFRICAN GOLF MATTERS VS THE SOCIETIES AIM OF ADDRESSING INDIVIDUAL SOCIETY MEMBER NEEDS.

The African golf societies are being harnessed into a single collective entity the AGCS ,and together, they can broader African golfing challenges and the formation of mutually beneficial long-term alliances and partnerships with Government, communities, NGOs and other progressive sporting organisations.

OUR VISION

To build and make golf non-racial sport to be used as an effective tool of economic development for communities

The aim of AGCS is to make golf an inclusive national sport. Golf clubs are facing some problems. Clubs need to look at themselves critically.

 The need to develop golf at school level.

Foster development programs in the former Model C schools

Assist and facilitate growth of golf in African schools.

Golf has been a unifying sport in South Africa, and continues to bring attention to our nation. AGCS is working toward equal representation and make golf more accessible.

The first South African Non-European Open Championship was held in Kimberley in 1949 and was won by R Ditsebe

From its very inception at Kimberley in 1892 the annual get-together of the country’s best golfers was called the South African Tournament.

Bobby Locke got South African golf on the world map by winning 13 tournaments, (including the British Open four times and he won the South African Open at the age of 17).
